Indigo Dyed Hand Block Printed Dabu Dupatta in Chanderi Cotton Silk 1
Bagru, Rajasthan is a small town about 35 km west of Jaipur, renowned for its distinctive hand-block printing and natural dyeing techniques that date back half a millennia. Bagru is renowned for its Dabu style of printing. This style has light coloured motifs against a dark background. Akaali mitti (black mud) paste – a dark mud found near Bagru is used to block print the pattern. When the fabrics are dyed, the motifs covered with the mud print remain uncoloured, while the rest of the fabric takes on the hue of the dye. This indigo coloured dupatta in silk cotton has been hand block printed by master artisans.
